 : Subject: Pony Colors
I have just purchased a MH Pony, I was told it is a 51 by the previous owner. The serial tag is unreadable. It has been painted over, but under the red paint appears to be gray, not a primer. I see that in 54 they may have been painted gray. I would like to paint it the original color if possible. I was also told that MH red is the same as MF red. I would appreciate if anyone could give me some info so that I can get it painted right, Thank You. Joe

Subject: Re: how to attach plow
Bolt plow clevis to tractor drawbar.Make sure locking jaw on plow tongue is well lubricated and open.Reverse tractor slowly (while helper, or block holds plow tongue at the correct height) until clevis forces jaw to rotate and the release pedal on top to move with an audible click to the locked position.Try pulling forward gently to make sure it's locked before hooking up your trip-rope!

Subject: Re: 1946 101 Jr twin power
In 1946 The enging used was a 162ci continental check the block on the lower right side just above the oil pan at the back. There should be a number cast in it. F162-350 was the gas version. As far as brake linings, I just found a set for a JD through Tisco. I dont have the numbers handy but I can send you them tommorow if thats OK. 4 linings and rivets were about $30. You'll just have to find someone with a brake lining rivet tool. They are a perfect match.

Subject: Serial Numbers ?
I just bought what I believe is a Massey Harris model 55. It has the belt drive on the right hand side as you sit on the tractor. The only numbers I could find on it were: 7479A on top of the transmission plate with 8-48 directly below it, and an engine plate MFA226620211. It is a 6cyl engine and I really need help in identifying it. Thanks! Mahlon Lofton

Subject: Massey-Harris-Ferguson 1957 ?
Hello, I was told you might be able to help me with when and where my tractor was made. Whatever you can tell me would be appreciated. It is a Massey Harris Ferguson with the serial number of SGM172401. There is a tag on the motor but I can't read it but on the block the number is Z134A500P and on the transmission the number is MHF182-840-M1. The man I bought it off of said he thought it was a 1956 but I think it is a 1957. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Also I found on another website that starting with the serial #171741 the plates show Massey-Ferguson. I was wondering about that too. Thank You paul4bass@yahoo.com

I have recently purchased a self propelled corn picker. It is in excellent condition, runs and I did pick about a half a wagon load of corn with it this fall. I'm looking for any information on serial number lists, production numbers estimated value and any other information that would be available. The story behind this picker is I stumbled upon it the day before it was to be cut up for scrap. I purchased it for scrap value, brought it home, cleaned the fuel tank, filed points, put a fresh battery in it, changed the oil and it started right up. I believe it has the original tires, paint is in excellent condition for the age, which I believe it has never been repainted, as the decals look original too. Thanks--Scott DeYoung

I went to change tires on a 1946 Massey Harris 101 jr. I had for years. I noticed that the rear wheel on the same side as the gearshift will not now spin with the tractor on blocks, in neutral. The other side will spin. It has been sitting on blocks for 4 years....just now getting around to it. It wasn't that way when I picked it up over 4 years ago, and it had sat for decades before that. Just wondering if anybody out there would know of something in the unit responsible for disengaging this wheel that I could lube or unstick? Thanks for reading.

I have to repair the radiator and repaint it; I still use it some. These were only made,I think, in 47' and 48'. I would be interested in hearing from others who have one. This tractor was purchased new from J.O.Stone in Aitch Pa; now under water as part of Raystown Dam. I am interested in #20 parts tractors. Thanks Wayne Ott

You do have a '55 model 33. G is for gas, 1 is for the low altitude carb jetting (under 1000 feet), S is for standard (or wide) front end, and F is for foot clutch.

I saw your web page and wondered if you have ever heard of or seen a Massey pulper. It is very old and all red in color. I can't quite recall the lettering color but I believe it is either red or yellow. It belongs to an acquaintance of mine and he thinks that it is a corn sheller. From what I have found on the internet it appears to me that it could be a beet pulper. He thinks that it was manufactured in Canada but I am not sure why he thinks that. I realize that this may not your area of expertise...Just thought that you might have seen one or heard of it over the years. If you have any info I would really appreciate hearing from you. Subject: Massey Harris Dealer
My Grandfather started a MH dealership in 1934. He was also an auctoneer. He would trade allmost anything for a MH tractor. He often traded horses that he would sell from his aucton barn which was attached to the back of the original dealership. My Father Kenney Miller from Wakarusa IN. built a new shop on SR 19 in 1967. I was working with him at that time and I got to help move the old business to the new facilities. With the exception of two years in the Army I stayed with him until MF drove us out of the business in 1985. I read with interest the history of MH. When I started with Dad and Grandpa the merger had not taken place. I will always have a soft place in my heart for Massey Harris. Thanks for the memories and the great photos. Subject: Massey Harris 44 Questions
Hello, I am hoping someone can help me out or point me in the right direction. I am looking at a Massey Harris 44 Special? and it has a very faded Special decal on the sheet metal. Actually the paint and decals are all so faded they almost don't exist. I believe the tractor is a 1952 and therefore couldn't be a 44 Special. Is there any way, by looking at the engine, etc., to determine if it's a 44 or 44 Special? It has live power and also down pressure on the 3 point hitch. Was down pressure something that came on the 44 or 44 Special? I know very little about Massey Harris tractors and would sure appreciate any information or advice, or where I might find out more about the 44 and 44 Special models. Thanks Bob

Hello from dowwn under.I was just brousing through your site so I though I might ask you a question.Or two.I finally got to see a distant friends collecton Kevin McKinty of Lockhart N.S.W. Australia some time back.Spotting this green massey from behind I rushed around the front only to find to my amazement it was a Wallis tractor.A close friend to Kevin and Myself,Norm Jonson from Longford Victoria Australia was visiting Kevin as well.Norm and I talked about this {GREEN WALLIS}to a small degree. Norm told me Wallis tractor were painted green just before they became the Model-25.So I came home and checked over some of my beautiful JUNK. I have Wallis No 57352 It apears to be just a grey tractor with no signs of any other colour but RUST.It does have an alluminum tag on the front of the boiler frame under the radiator that reads massey harris 57352.NO number is visable on the boiler frame under the carby. It has a tag on the bonnet corner above the magneto reading MASSEY HARRIS Co-Ltd,MASSEY-WALLIS Engine Gargoyle mobil oil "BB" Transmission Gargoyle mobil oil "C" It was missing the radiator.I have found a radiator with wallis on the top tank.It has wallis in raised letters on the side of the engine block.I was guessing this was a wallis 20/30 just before the Massey 25.Because the radiator was missing i am not sure if it could of had Massey Harris on the top tank, this was a grey tractor. My next wallis I purchased about 40 miles away from Kevins place a small town called Oaklands.Checking this tractor over when I arived home I found what was left of green paint over the top of grey. This tractor has wallis on the engine on the engine block and radiator top.Bonnet is missing. The tag at the front of the boiler frame under the radiator is missing. There is a number on the boiler frame under the carby 879.These numbers are stamped in,look original.Did all wallis 20/30 have tags at the front of the boiler frame,if not and only the last 20/30 models had Massey Harris tags, why does this one have a low serial no 879?.Wheels are hard to try and track history because of government policies at the time of there entry into Australia [long time ago] lots of tractors entered Australia without wheels.Companys like Goodyear and Dunlop were contracted to fit wheels to these tractors as well as make wheels and adapters to convert steel wheels to rubber tyers.I have one more wallis to bring home, but i dont know much about this one.I also have Massey Harris 745 row crop [British]with a 4 cyl perkins.Serial no L8637TY.I have a standard 745 tractor its serial no is K3941T.Do you know what the TY or T stands for.I have a 744 row crop with a P6 perkins in it,that one still needs to come home as well. Some of my other masseys are green 25 no-70834,water pump in front of magneto, green 25 no-72855,water pump behind fan.Red 25-73452,Red pacemaker no-120538,44-ks-3135,44-ks1291, 203-99868, 81 row crop no-435080.I have 2 more 203,s 2x55K ,1 wallis 20/30, 1 green pacemaker and a 744-P6 perkins, row crop-wide front still to be brought home.I am not sure if somebody can solve my green/grey wallis problem. It might have been an agent or dealer choice.who knows i would just like to get right.

My grandfather was Oliver Pliny Conger, who died in 1926 before I was born. If you send me your email address, I would be happy to share some information that I have including a booklet that he wrote concerning mechanization of agriculture and a detailed Brief concerning the company filed on his behalf in a law suit against his former partners. Also, perhaps you might include some better pictures of your 1914 and 1916 Wallace Tractors.

Enjoyed my visit. I liked the pictures. My tractor is a Massey Harris Mustang, 23 I believe they called it. It is in all original condition. I acquired it inside a barn in 1968 and with few exception it has remained in some barn or other. The original decal is still visible. I did not see a Mustang in your picture gallery so let me know if you'd like one and I'll try to find a nice one for you.

Happy to have found your site...I am the owner of a restored 47' Pony. It was owned/ used by the town of Wells from 1950 - 1968 (I have maitnance records), in 1968 it was bought & used on a small farm until the summer of 2000 at which time it was sold at auction to a man named Robert Nicholas who spent more than 200 hour restoring the tractor. I bought the tractor this past summer & it won 1st place in the pre-1950 catagory at our local county fair. I have many original attachments for the Pony including a saw mill/ 2 plows/ sickle bar mowers & cultivators. My 3yr old son & I are entered into our towns Christmas parade w/ the Pony this year, it should be fun!
